One of the happiest moments of a couple is when they realize
there is a baby on the way. Most couples who are trying to conceive want to get
pregnant soon rather than wait for later.
Like most of us already know that having sexual intercourse when
it close to ovulation would be a huge help it is not all that it takes to boosting
fertility. Fertility experts have shown other ways by which couples can boost
their fertility so read through this patiently and follow it through and it may
just be what you need to get that happy moment.
1.
Weight Control for the Woman: Do not be
surprised at the idea because being overweight or underweight can very well
delay the time it takes for a woman to conceive. The director of reproductive
endocrinology and infertility at Baylor College of Medicine, William Gibbons
says that an overlooked factor in fertility is weight before pregnancy.
A research was done where the evaluation of
the BMI (Body Mass Index) of 2,112 pregnant women was done. Women who had a
pre-pregnancy BMI of 25.39 which was considered as obese or overweight had a
twofold increase in the time it took to get pregnant. Women with a BMI less
than 19 (where BMI from 18.5 to 24.9 is considered normal) was found to be
worse with time to conception increasing fourfold.
2.
Protect Your Sperm, the Male Fertility Booster:
There have been tales of how changing to boxers instead of briefs would boost
fertility because the genial temperatures will be kept low but this doesn’t really
hold much truth. The American Society for Reproductive Medicine recently said
that the controlling of temperature does not have much effect in boosting
fertility but Dale McClure, the president of this society said that repeated
exposure to high water temperature through either hot tubs or baths will
definitely affect a man’s fertility. There has been no link between exposure to
other sources of heat and the fertility of a man. There have studies on
increase of scrotal temperatures in laptop users who placed the computer on
their laps. To be sure of your fertility, every man is advised to desist from
prolonged exposure to heat from other sources.
3.
Quit Smoking: This is for the couple as smoking
cigarettes has been found to impair both a man’s and woman’s fertility. In
women, smoking affects how receptive the uterus is to the egg and reduces the
sperm production and damages DNA in men. Quitting smoking before pregnancy
would help you be on a safer side and smoking while pregnant increases the risk
of miscarriage.
4.
Have Frequent Sex: “Saving Up” as some couples
call it would do no good in boosting your chances of getting pregnant. McClure
says that “after about a week, the sperm count goes up a bit but the mobility
decreases.” Delaying sex for more than five days has a chance of adversely affecting
your sperm count. Couples are advised by a study done to have sex everyday if
it would not be too much stress. If the stress would be much, intervals as
short as two days would do no harm to the sperm density.
5.
Wisely Choose Lubricants: The more frequent
there intercourse between couples, they may turn more to vaginal lubricants
which is OK. Choosing these lubricants is where the problem might occur as some
lubricants may result in reducing fertility. Products containing spermicidal
agents should be avoided when you are trying to get pregnant. Some lubricants
which are good include canola oil, peanut oil; soap is no good so keep away
from it. Water based lubricants should also be avoided as they disturb the
sperm mobility by 60 to 100%.
So follow these guidelines and you may well be on your way to getting pregnant.
